Ancient Egypt
Geography-

  • Egyptian life is centered around the Nile River
  • Nile flows south to north which is abnormal
  • longest river in the world- 4000 miles 
  • EVERY July the river floods

Pyramids-
  • the Great Sphinx of Giza- built 2555-2532 BC
  • a recumbent lion with a human's head
  • oldest monument statue in the world 

Daily Life-
  • raised wheat, barley, lentils, and onions
  • benefited from irrigation of the Nile
  • money/ barter system was used
  • scribes kept records, told stories, and wrote poetry
  • they wrote in hieroglyphs and in hieratic 
  • soldiers used wooden weapons 
  • the upper class was known as the "white kilt class"
Pharaohs-
  •  pharaoh was ruler of Upper and Lower Egypt
  • owned all land
  • Hatshepsut was a woman who served as pharaoh
 Gods and Godesses-
  • over 2000
  • they "controlled" the lives of humans
